About AXF Airsoft Club
AXF is a club of airsofters/military simulation enthusiasts that meets roughly every eight weeks to play scenario based timed skirmishes. AXF is non-exclusive group whose members belong to a variety of outside teams and organizations. When we come together we set aside our affiliations and play as a unit of like-minded individuals who seek maximum fun out of the hobby (and we always have a blast).
What rules do you use?
All our players use low capacity (locap) magazines. These are the magazines that carry 50-70 pellets depending on your AEG. We've found this generates an intense style of play that's highly addicting. When most everyone on the field is using locaps the dynamic of the game changes and the rewards for squad cohesion and tactical planning are enhanced tremendously.
What about high capacity magazines?
Frequently our scenarios include SAW (Squad Automatic Weapons, or machineguns) players at a roughly 1:4 ratio. This means for every 4 rifleman with locaps there will be one player with either high capacity mags or an equivalent weapon. SAWs are also limited to rifle or larger sized weapons (no SMGs).
What other rules do you use?
We frequently use medics and regeneration. When we've combined medics, SAWs, and timed regeneration we've found gameplay naturally gravitated toward squad based tactics, similar to real world situations. AEGs are limited to a 1.5 Joule velocity limit (400 FPS with 0.2 gram pellets, or 360 FPS with 0.25 gram pellets) for safety reasons.
Where do you play?
We play on private fields throughout Southern California.
What do I need to attend an AXF skirmish?
Airsoft/paintball rated eye protection, BDUs (no t-shirt or shorts), a man portable water storage device (canteen or camelbak), and some kind of sturdy combat/tactical/hiking boot (no sneakers). You will also need to bring three locap mags of your own to the game.
My airsoft gear is already expensive - buying locap mags is going to be hard...
We appreciate the cost involved. All of us have had to dig a little deeper in our wallets to support this style of gaming. While we do loan out locaps on occasion, we are firm in our desire to continue to skirmish this way. The price you pay for the few locaps is more than rewarded by the quality of gameplay. We realize not everyone is interested in playing our kind of game, so we say live and let live. If you want to join us, put off buying that extra gear for a month or two and invest in some locaps.
How do I become a part of AXF?
Each AXF member is allowed to invite one guest per skirmish (Occasionally we conduct mass invites). Our membership is limited to those who've demonstrated good sportsmanship and a laid back and good natured attitude toward the hobby and fellow players. Guests who exhibit these qualities will be invited back, and if after a few skirmishes everything has gone well they will be accepted as full members of the club with their own invitation privileges. Members must be 18 or older. We do not conduct open games because our experience has been controlled environments are the best way to achieve our objectives. We have a responsibility to maintain high quality play for our existing player base, to retain access to private fields, and to ensure the maximum level of safety for everyone involved. A membership system is the most efficient way we have found of doing this. We are not better than anyone else, and we do not seek to withdraw from airsoft into our own "clique." Our members regularly attend outside games and are active members of the U.S. airsoft community. We also attend special events as an AXF club group (members are free to play with us or with their own teams) whenever we can.
The best way to get invited to an AXF skirmish is to meet us, get to know us, and show us you're a cool person to play with or against on the field. For a good idea of what we're looking for, please refer to our code of conduct section. |
